ddNTPkets refers to a kit containing dideoxynucleotide triphosphates, often used in molecular biology. These modified nucleotides are crucial for Sanger sequencing, a method used to determine the order of nucleotides in a DNA molecule. Unlike standard deoxynucleotide triphosphates (dNTPs), ddNTPs lack a hydroxyl group at the 3' carbon of their sugar ring. This structural difference prevents the formation of phosphodiester bonds when incorporated into a growing DNA strand. Consequently, DNA synthesis terminates at the point of ddNTP incorporation.

A typical ddNTPket would include the four standard ddNTPs: ddATP, ddTTP, ddCTP, and ddGTP. These are usually supplied in separate tubes or as a pre-mixed solution.
