Currículo (often written currículo or currículo vitae) is a document that summarizes a person's education, work experience, skills, and other qualifications for employment or academic opportunities. In Portuguese-speaking countries, it serves as the primary tool for presenting a candidate to potential employers or institutions.

The term derives from Latin curriculum and the word vitae is sometimes added; in practice, currículos can range from short résumés to extensive CVs. In Brazil, the standard research CV format is the Currículo Lattes, a structured digital profile used by researchers to report education, publications, projects, and professional activities.

Common sections include dados pessoais (personal information), objetivo (career objective), formação acadêmica, experiência profissional, habilidades, idiomas, cursos e certificações, projetos ou produção acadêmica, prêmios, and referências. The order is typically reverse chronological for experience and education; in CVs, longer descriptions may be included for each item.

Guidelines emphasize relevance, accuracy, and conciseness. Tailor the CV to the opportunity, use clear headings, and quantify achievements where possible. Privacy considerations may affect the inclusion of personal data; some employers discourage photos or date of birth in international applications.

Digital formats are common, with PDFs or online profiles such as LinkedIn or personal websites. For international applications, an English version or bilingual CV is often recommended, and applicants should adapt terminology to the target country’s expectations.
