Csontszövetnövekedés refers to the biological processes by which bone tissue forms and increases in size. This complex process involves several key cellular activities and molecular signals.

The primary cells responsible for bone formation are osteoblasts. These cells originate from mesenchymal stem cells and are responsible for synthesizing and secreting the organic matrix of bone, known as osteoid. Osteoid is primarily composed of collagen fibers, which provide a structural framework. Subsequently, calcium and phosphate minerals are deposited into this matrix through a process called mineralization, leading to the hardening of the bone.

Bone growth occurs through two main mechanisms: intramembranous ossification and endochondral ossification. Intramembranous ossification is the direct formation of bone within mesenchymal tissue, typically seen in the flat bones of the skull and the clavicles. Endochondral ossification involves the replacement of a cartilage model with bone tissue. This is the primary mechanism for the growth of long bones at the epiphyseal plates. Within the epiphyseal plate, chondrocytes proliferate, mature, and eventually undergo apoptosis, creating spaces that are then invaded by blood vessels and osteoblasts to form new bone.

Bone remodeling is a continuous process throughout life, where old bone tissue is resorbed by osteoclasts and new bone tissue is formed by osteoblasts. This dynamic balance is crucial for maintaining bone strength, repairing micro-damage, and adapting to mechanical stress. Hormones, such as parathyroid hormone, calcitonin, and growth hormone, as well as mechanical loading, play significant roles in regulating csontszövetnövekedés and bone remodeling.
