Cranialin

Cranialin is a rare medical condition characterized by the presence of fluid-filled cavities within the skull. Also known as dysraphic crania, this condition is a form of cranial dysraphia, a broader category of congenital disorders involving incomplete closure of the neural tube.

During embryonic development, the neural tube usually closes to form the brain and spinal cord. In cases of cranialin, the cranial sutures fail to fuse properly, resulting in the formation of abnormal fluid-filled spaces within the cranial vault. These cavities can vary in size and number, and may be filled with cerebrospinal fluid or other substances.

Cranialin is considered to be a low-grade malformation, meaning that the abnormalities caused by this condition are relatively mild and may not significantly impact the individual's quality of life. The symptoms of cranialin are usually minimal and may not become apparent until later in life, as the individual grows and develops.
