Corneaformázás, also known as corneal reshaping or orthokeratology (ortho-k), is a non-surgical process that temporarily corrects refractive errors in the eye, such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. It involves the use of specially designed rigid gas permeable contact lenses that are worn overnight.

These lenses are carefully shaped to flatten the central cornea overnight. As the eye rests, the lenses gently reshape the corneal surface. When the lenses are removed in the morning, the cornea remains in its altered, more optically correct shape for a period of time, allowing the individual to see clearly without the need for glasses or conventional contact lenses during the day.

The effect of corneaformázás is temporary, and the cornea gradually returns to its original shape over time. To maintain clear vision, the ortho-k lenses must be worn regularly, typically every night. The specific design of the lenses is determined by an eye care professional after a thorough examination and fitting. Corneaformázás is a reversible treatment, and discontinuing wear will result in the return of the original refractive error. It is often considered an alternative for individuals who are not suitable candidates for refractive surgery or prefer a non-surgical option.
