System layout should minimize handling, allow easy maintenance, and incorporate control systems, sensors, and safety interlocks. Standards such as mechanical safety directives, lockout/tagout, emergency stops may apply.

Benefits include increased efficiency, reduced manual handling, consistent processing speed, and improved traceability when integrated with sensors and data systems.
