Conventionalization refers to the process by which a behavior, practice, or meaning becomes established and accepted as a norm or standard within a group or society. It is a gradual development, often occurring over time, where initial variations or novelties are repeatedly used or observed until they become predictable and expected. In language, conventionalization leads to the formation of words and grammatical structures.
