Clausewitzi is a genus of extinct cephalopods belonging to the subclass Nautiloidea. These marine mollusks lived during the late Paleozoic era, primarily in the Carboniferous and Permian periods. The genus is named after the German philosopher and military theorist Carl von Clausewitz, reflecting the historical appreciation for strategic and combat modeling in paleontological studies.

Claylewitzi species are characterized by their coiled, planispiral shells, which often display intricate suture patterns and growth lines. The shells typically have a smooth surface with occasional ornamentation, aiding in buoyancy and stability in marine environments. As nektonic creatures, clausewitzi likely played a significant role in the marine ecosystems, preying on smaller organisms and serving as prey for larger marine predators.
