Clásico is a Spanish term used as both adjective and noun. It derives from Latin classicus, via Spanish, originally meaning "belonging to the highest class" or "of the classical tradition." As an adjective, it describes something traditional, canonical, or exemplary within a culture or discipline. As a noun, it can denote a work regarded as part of the classical canon, or a fixture that has attained long-standing significance.

In arts and scholarship, phrases such as literatura clásica, música clásica, and arte clásico refer to forms associated with the classical tradition and its standards of universality and durability. The label signals enduring recognition rather than novelty. The feminine form is clásica for feminine nouns; the plural forms are los clásicos or las clásicas depending on gender.

In sports, el Clásico designates a high-profile rivalry. The best-known instance is the football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona, often described simply as El Clásico. Similar rivalries exist in other leagues and sports, and in some contexts, "Superclásico" is used for especially intense contests such as the Boca Juniors–River Plate rivalry in Argentina. The term is descriptive and widely used by fans and media, not an official competition name.
