Christianization refers to the process by which individuals, communities, or entire societies adopt Christianity. Early Christianization efforts primarily focused on evangelizing within the Roman Empire. Following the Edict of Milan in 313 CE, which granted religious tolerance, Christianity gradually became the dominant religion of the empire. The spread of Christianity further accelerated with the conversion of various European tribes and kingdoms during the early Middle Ages.
