Causedirected is a term used to describe a design and analysis approach that emphasizes directing causal factors to achieve a desired outcome. Rather than focusing solely on predicting outcomes from inputs, causedirected work seeks to identify and manipulate upstream causes whose control would reliably produce the target result. The concept emerges from causal inference and systems thinking and is applied in fields such as public health, policy evaluation, engineering, and organizational design.

In theoretical terms, causedirected practice relies on causal graphs or structural causal models to distinguish correlation from causation. Interventions are modeled using the do-operator, with the aim of changing a cause rather than merely observing changes in effect.
