Categorivariabel is a term used in statistics and data analysis to describe a variable that can take on one of a limited, and typically fixed, number of possible values. These values represent distinct categories or groups rather than numerical quantities. Categorivariabel are also known as qualitative variables or nominal variables.

The categories associated with a categorivariabel are not inherently ordered. For example, a variable representing hair color (e.g., blonde, brown, black) is a categorivariabel, and there is no natural order among these colors. Similarly, a variable indicating the type of fruit (e.g., apple, banana, orange) is a categorivariabel.
