Catalisas is a term that may appear in texts written in some Romance languages. In English scientific writing, the process is normally called catalysis and the agents that accelerate reactions are called catalysts. In Portuguese, catalisas is a present-tense verb form of catalisar meaning you catalyze, while the noun for a catalyst is catalisador (plural catalisadores). Because of this, "catalisas" is not a standard term for the chemical concept in English and its meaning depends on the language context.

Catalysis refers to the acceleration of a chemical reaction through a catalyst, which participates in the reaction cycle but is not consumed in the overall reaction. The catalyst works by providing an alternative pathway with a lower activation energy, thus increasing the rate of product formation at a given temperature.

Types of catalysis include homogeneous catalysts, which operate in the same phase as the reactants, and heterogeneous catalysts, which are in a different phase, typically a solid with gaseous or liquid reactants. Enzymes are biocatalysts that perform highly selective transformations under mild conditions. Catalysis does not change the reaction equilibrium, only the rate.
