Buyoutyritykset, commonly referred to as buyout firms in Finnish, are investment firms that specialize in leveraged buyouts (LBOs) of established companies. They acquire controlling or significant minority stakes using a combination of equity from investment funds and substantial debt financing, with the aim of improving performance and creating value for investors. Deals often involve management buyouts (MBOs) or management buy-ins (MBIs), where current or incoming managers take control of the business.

During ownership, buyoutyritykset implement value-creation plans that may include operational improvements, strategic repositioning, cost reduction, governance changes, and, when appropriate, portfolio consolidation through acquisitions or divestitures.
