Digital brochures replicate the format in interactive formats such as PDFs or online flipbooks, often with hyperlinks, embedded video, and downloadable content. They enable wider reach and easy updating but require access to devices and considerations for accessibility, such as readable type and alternative text for images.

Historically, brochures evolved from pamphlets and leaflets used for commercial and public information. Modern brochures are used across industries to present services, products, or programs succinctly and professionally, and are often complemented by other marketing materials and digital media.
