Biorytmiikka is a pseudoscientific theory that suggests human lives are influenced by predictable biological cycles. These cycles are proposed to operate in three main phases: physical, emotional, and intellectual. Each phase is said to follow a sinusoidal wave pattern with a specific duration. The physical cycle is believed to last 23 days, the emotional cycle 28 days, and the intellectual cycle 33 days.

According to biorytmiikka proponents, an individual's state on any given day can be determined by calculating their position within these cycles. Positive phases are associated with optimal performance in the corresponding area (e.g., physical strength during the positive physical phase), while negative phases are thought to indicate a period of reduced capability. Critical days occur when a cycle crosses the zero line, representing a transition and potentially a higher risk of accidents or errors.

The theory gained popularity in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. However, it lacks scientific validation. Numerous studies have attempted to find correlations between biorythmic cycles and human performance, health, or accidents, but none have yielded statistically significant results that support the claims of biorytmiikka. The scientific community generally regards biorytmiikka as a pseudoscience, citing a lack of empirical evidence and a flawed theoretical basis.
