Beszédírás, or "speech writing," refers to the traditional Hungarian orthographic system used to represent the spoken language of Hungarian. It is based on the Latin alphabet but includes several diacritical marks and additional letters to accurately reflect the unique sounds of the Hungarian language. The system was standardized in the 19th century and remains the official writing system for Hungarian today.

The Hungarian alphabet consists of 44 letters, including 23 basic Latin letters and 21 additional characters such as á, é, í, ó, ö, ő, ú, ü, and ű.
