Berhubungan is a verb in Indonesian and Malay that expresses being related, connected, or in contact. It is formed from the prefix ber- attached to hubung, a noun meaning relation or connection. The basic sense is that two or more subjects share a relationship or are in communication with one another.

Common usage includes berhubungan dengan to indicate relation or contact with someone or something, such as berhubungan dengan klien (to be in contact with clients) or berhubungan dengan masalah ini (to be related to this issue). The form berhubungan antara can describe the relation between two entities, as in discussions of the relationship antara X dan Y. The related adjective terhubung means “connected,” as in terhubung dengan internet (connected to the Internet).

Nuance and register vary by context. In formal writing, berhubungan often refers to social, organizational, or informational ties, collaborations, or communications. In everyday speech, it can simply mean being in contact or having an ongoing relationship. In informal usage, berhubungan can also refer to sexual relations when paired with qualifiers such as intim (berhubungan intim).
