Benzoiliperoksidi, or benzoyl peroxide in English, is an organic peroxide with the chemical formula C14H10O4. It consists of two benzoyl groups connected by a peroxide bridge. The compound is a white to off-white solid that is sparingly soluble in water and more soluble in organic solvents. It decomposes when heated or subjected to impurities, releasing free radicals that can initiate chemical reactions.

The decomposition of benzoiliperoksidi produces benzoyloxy radicals, which can further fragment into phenyl radicals. This radical-generating behavior makes the substance useful as a radical initiator in polymerization processes, especially for vinyl monomers such as styrene and methacrylates. In addition to industrial applications, benzoiliperoksidi is employed in dermatology and cosmetics as an antimicrobial and keratolytic agent for the treatment of acne. In cosmetic products, usual concentrations range from about 2.5% to 10%, depending on formulation and intended use.

Benzoiliperoksidi is typically produced commercially by oxidation pathways that generate the peroxide linkage between two benzenoyl groups. It is available as powders, beads, or pastes and is used in laboratories, manufacturing, and consumer products. Storage requires cool, dry conditions away from heat and ignition sources, and it should be kept away from reducing agents and organic materials due to its oxidizing nature. Handling can pose risks of irritation to skin and eyes, and finely divided material may present an explosion hazard if contaminated or improperly stored.
