Bensiiniöljyseos, often referred to as two-stroke oil or premix, is a mixture of gasoline and lubricating oil specifically designed for use in engines that lack a separate oil lubrication system. These engines, commonly found in older motorcycles, chainsaws, lawnmowers, and some outboard motors, rely on the oil in the fuel to lubricate moving parts such as pistons, cylinders, and crankshaft bearings. Without this oil, the engine would quickly seize due to excessive friction.

The ratio of gasoline to oil in the mixture is crucial and varies depending on the engine manufacturer's recommendations. Common ratios include 50:1, 40:1, 25:1, or even 20:1, where the first number represents parts of gasoline and the second represents parts of oil. Using the incorrect ratio can lead to engine damage; too little oil results in insufficient lubrication and overheating, while too much oil can cause excessive smoke, carbon buildup, fouled spark plugs, and reduced engine performance.

Specialized two-stroke oils are formulated to burn cleanly and provide adequate lubrication at high temperatures and pressures. They are distinct from standard motor oils, which are designed for engines with separate oil sumps. Blending the gasoline and oil thoroughly before adding it to the fuel tank is essential to ensure consistent lubrication. Some modern two-stroke engines utilize an oil injection system that automatically mixes the oil with the gasoline, eliminating the need for manual premixing.
