Bekötve was a pioneering Hungarian punk rock band that emerged in the late 1970s in Budapest. Formed in 1978 by lead vocalist and guitarist György Bölöny and drummer Roland Juhasz, the group was originally part of a growing underground music scene that opposed the restrictive cultural climate of communist Hungary. Their name, which translates literally to “wired” or “connected,” reflected the band’s intent to link their music with the rebellious youth and external punk influences from the West.
