Batterivolts is an informal, nonstandard term used to describe the electrical potential difference of a battery or battery pack as observed at its terminals. It is not an official unit and has no universally agreed definition. The term appears mainly in hobbyist discussions and some engineering contexts as a convenient shorthand for the voltage characteristics of a battery system.

In practical use, batterivolts refer to the terminal voltage under operating conditions, which varies with state of charge, load, temperature, and internal resistance. For a pack with N cells in series, batterivolts roughly equal the sum of the individual cell voltages under the same conditions. For example, a 6-cell Li-ion pack with nominal 3.7 V per cell has about 22.2 V in batterivolts at nominal charge and about 25.2 V when fully charged (4.2 V per cell).

Batterivolts is a voltage metric distinct from capacity (ampere-hours) and energy (watt-hours). It is also separate from open-circuit voltage, per-cell voltage, and other specialized measures; in practice, context determines which voltage state is being described. Battery management systems monitor batterivolts along with current and temperature to assess health, performance, and safety.

Because batterivolts lacks standard definition, professional writing typically uses explicit terms such as terminal voltage, open-circuit voltage, per-cell voltage, or pack voltage. Some proposals have been made to formalize batterivolts as a defined quantity under specified test conditions, but the term has not achieved broad adoption.
