Barrotplantor is a fictional genus of flowering plants created for encyclopedic illustration. It does not correspond to any known living or extinct taxon.

Taxonomy and naming: In this article Barrotplantor is treated as a monotypic genus containing a single described species, Barrotplantor torquatus. The fictional family Barrotaceae is placed in the order Rosales.

Description: Barrotplantor torquatus is a herbaceous perennial reaching up to 60 cm tall. Leaves are opposite, narrow and glabrous. The inflorescence is a loose raceme of small blue to violet flowers about 6–8 mm across. The fruit is a small dry capsule.

Distribution and habitat: In the fictional account, Barrotplantor is endemic to the highland grasslands of the continent of Noverda, where it grows on well-drained calcareous soils at elevations of 1,000–1,800 m.

Ecology and cultivation: Pollination is by native bees; the plant's showy flowers make it attractive as an ornamental. In teaching contexts, it is described as easy to propagate by seed or cuttings; germination requirements are typical of temperate perennials.
