barneskolens
Barneskolen refers to the primary or elementary stage of the Danish compulsory education system, forming the first part of the broader folkeskolen (public school). It generally covers the early years of schooling for children, typically from about age 6 to 12 and roughly the first six years of formal education. The phase is commonly divided into two parts: indskolingen (the initial years, roughly grades 0–3) and the beginning of mellemtrinnet (grades 4–6). The following stage, udskolingen (grades 7–9), and the optional 10th grade lie outside barneskolen.
