Barneporno is a term used in Danish and Norwegian to refer to child pornography, i.e., material that sexualizes minors, typically images or videos of persons under 18. In English-language contexts the term child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is widely used alongside, and sometimes interchangeably with, barneporno in media reporting and legal discussions.

Legally, most countries prohibit producing, distributing, possessing, or accessing CSAM. Penalties vary but commonly include imprisonment and mandatory offender registration. Internationally, the protection of children from sexual exploitation is addressed by instruments such as the United Nations Optional Protocol on the Rights of the Child on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography; the Lanzarote Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse; and the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime.

Efforts to combat CSAM include platform moderation, user reporting, and cross-border law enforcement cooperation. Technology such as hashed databases (for example PhotoDNA) enables platforms to identify known material even when it is reuploaded under different filenames. Detection and removal are complemented by education campaigns and hotlines that encourage reporting and support for victims.

Barneporno is recognized as a form of child exploitation with lasting harm to victims. Public and professional awareness emphasizes rapid reporting, child-protection measures, and the principle that viewing or sharing such material is illegal and harmful.
