Balneology is the science concerned with the therapeutic use of natural mineral waters, gases, and peloids (mud) for health and disease. It encompasses the study of the physical properties of waters, their mineral content, and their physiological effects, as well as the clinical application of treatments such as bathing, drinking cures, mud therapy, and inhalation of vapors.
