Notes. While similar verbs like agregar are interchangeable in many contexts, añadir and su gerund with clitics emphasize the act of adding to someone or something. The form is primarily a stylistic or descriptive device and is less common in highly formal registers, where a simple adding or adding to someone phrase may be preferred.
