avidiinia
Avidiinia is a fictional biochemical concept used in speculative biology and science fiction to describe a high-affinity biotin-binding molecule. In in-universe biology, avidiinia is portrayed as a soluble protein or protein complex that captures biotin (vitamin B7) with an affinity comparable to or exceeding that of the natural biotin-binding protein avidin, and it may participate in a biotin-sequestering pathway. The name combines the root “avid-” from avidin with the -inia suffix often used for protein-like entities, intended to evoke a parallel to avidin.
In hypothetical models, avidiinia is described as forming a multimeric assembly, such as a tetramer, with a
In real-world biology, avidiinia does not refer to a recognized molecule or concept in peer-reviewed literature.
