Autokraatiline describes a form of government or leadership characterized by absolute power held by a single individual. This ruler, often referred to as an autocrat, has unlimited authority and is not subject to any legal or constitutional checks and balances. Decisions are made unilaterally, and dissent is typically suppressed. The legitimacy of an autocrat's rule can stem from various sources, including hereditary succession, military power, or a perceived divine right. Historically, many empires and kingdoms have been ruled by autocrats. In modern times, the term is often used to describe authoritarian regimes where a single leader wields unchecked power, even if the formal governmental structure might suggest otherwise. The absence of accountability and the concentration of power in one person are defining features of autokraatiline rule. This system contrasts sharply with democratic forms of government, where power is distributed among different branches and ultimately derived from the consent of the governed.
