Aurinkokeräin is the Finnish term for a solar collector, a device designed to absorb the sun's energy and convert it into usable heat. These systems are commonly used for domestic hot water heating and space heating in buildings. There are two main types of aurinkokeräin systems: flat-plate collectors and evacuated tube collectors. Flat-plate collectors are typically made of a dark, heat-absorbing surface covered by a transparent glazing, enclosed in an insulated box.
