arkelogisk

Arkelogisk is an adjective sometimes seen in Scandinavian texts to denote a relation to archaeology. In standard Swedish, the corresponding form is arkeologisk. Arkelogisk is generally regarded as a nonstandard variant or misspelling and may appear in older writings, informal contexts, or OCR-rendered material. It is not widely recognized as a separate term in contemporary formal Swedish.

Etymology and cognates: The word is built from arkeologi (archaeology) plus the suffix -isk. This construction mirrors the common Scandinavian pattern for adjectives describing fields of study or characteristic qualities. The standard forms in Danish and Norwegian are arkeologisk, and ark- variants without the e are uncommon in those languages as well.
