Apartheidit was a political movement and ideology that emerged in South Africa during the early 20th century, advocating for the policy of apartheid, a system of institutionalized racial segregation and discrimination. The term "Apartheidit" is derived from "apartheid," the Afrikaans word meaning "apartness," which became widely associated with the South African government's racial policies from 1948 until the early 1990s.

The movement sought to reinforce the dominance of the white minority over other racial groups, particularly Black South Africans, by implementing laws that segregated communities, restricted political rights, and limited economic opportunities for non-white populations. Key legislation under apartheid included the Population Registration Act, the Group Areas Act, and the Pass Laws, which collectively enforced spatial and social segregation.

Apartheidit was characterized by its resistance to racial integration and equality, leading to widespread internal resistance, protests, and international condemnation. Notable figures associated with anti-apartheid activism include Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, and Oliver Tambo, who fought against the oppressive system through various means, including civil disobedience and diplomatic efforts.

The system officially ended in the early 1990s, culminating in the first multiracial democratic elections in 1994, which resulted in Nelson Mandela becoming South Africa's first Black president. Following the demise of apartheidit, South Africa transitioned towards a more inclusive and nondiscriminatory society, although the legacy of apartheid still influences social and economic issues within the country today.
