This might involve a renewed interest in craftsmanship, narrative linearity, and emotional sincerity, as opposed to the self-referential and often playful nature of postmodern art. In cultural or political discourse, it can signal a desire for a more unified identity, a rejection of identity politics in favor of broader, more inclusive categories, or a defense of established institutions and values against postmodern critiques. It is not a single, unified movement but rather a diverse set of reactions against specific aspects of postmodern thought and culture.
