Analoogedastuse, also known as analog broadcasting, refers to the transmission of audio and video signals in their original, continuous form, as opposed to digital broadcasting, which converts these signals into a series of discrete values. Analog broadcasting has been the standard method for television and radio transmission for many decades, utilizing amplitude modulation (AM) and frequency modulation (FM) for radio, and vestigial sideband amplitude modulation (VSB-AM) for television.

In analog broadcasting, the signal is transmitted continuously, allowing for a wide range of frequencies to be represented. This method has the advantage of being relatively simple and inexpensive to implement, making it accessible for widespread use. However, analog signals are susceptible to interference, noise, and distortion, which can degrade the quality of the received signal.

The transition from analog to digital broadcasting has been a significant shift in the media industry. Digital broadcasting offers several advantages, including improved signal quality, reduced interference, and the ability to transmit multiple channels over a single frequency. This has led to the development of digital television (DTV) standards such as DVB-T and ATSC, and digital radio standards like DAB and DRM.

Despite the advantages of digital broadcasting, analog broadcasting remains in use in many parts of the world, particularly in regions where the infrastructure for digital broadcasting has not yet been fully developed. The gradual phasing out of analog broadcasting is often referred to as the "analog switch-off" or "analog blackout," a process that varies by country and region.
