alusvaine

Alusvaine is a surface priming material used to prepare substrates for subsequent coatings. Acting as an adhesion promoter, it creates a uniform interface that improves bonding, seals porosity, and reduces absorbency of the material applied on top.

Commercial alusvaine formulations vary by substrate and performance target. Common classes include epoxy-based primers, acrylic primers, polyurethane primers, and silane-based primers. Many products combine a resin component with solvents or water and may include corrosion inhibitors, fillers, or pigments to aid visibility during application.

Typical uses include metal finishing, wood preparation, concrete and masonry coatings, automotive refinishing, and industrial equipment coatings. In addition to adhesion, primers may provide other functions such as rust prevention, moisture sealing, or color uniformity for subsequent topcoats.

Application and preparation depend on the substrate and the product. Surfaces are usually cleaned and dried; high spots or rust are removed. Primer is applied by brush, roller, or spray in a uniform coat and allowed to cure before applying the topcoat. Some systems require sanding between coats.
