Ajastusfunktsioonid, also known as timing functions, are mathematical expressions that define how a value changes over time, particularly in animation and user interface design. They control the acceleration and deceleration of an animation, dictating its perceived speed and smoothness.

The most basic timing function is linear, where the value changes at a constant rate. However, more complex functions like ease-in, ease-out, and ease-in-out provide a more natural and visually appealing motion. Ease-in starts an animation slowly and then accelerates, mimicking the effect of an object gaining momentum. Ease-out begins quickly and then decelerates, similar to an object coming to a stop. Ease-in-out combines both, starting slowly, speeding up, and then slowing down again.

These functions are often represented graphically as curves, with the x-axis representing time and the y-axis representing the progress of the animation. Different curves correspond to different timing behaviors. Developers use timing functions to create fluid transitions, engaging animations, and responsive user experiences without requiring complex scripting.
