ajakronomeetrid
Ajakronomeetrid, often translated as chronometers, are exceptionally accurate timekeeping instruments. Their primary characteristic is their ability to maintain precise timekeeping under a variety of environmental conditions, including changes in temperature, pressure, and humidity. Historically, chronometers were crucial for celestial navigation. Sailors relied on them to determine their longitude at sea, as accurately knowing the time allowed them to calculate their position relative to Greenwich Mean Time.
The development of the chronometer was a significant achievement in horology. Early attempts at accurate timekeeping
Modern chronometers, while still valued for their precision, have largely been superseded by electronic navigation systems
