Accentspecific is an adjective used especially in linguistics and related fields to describe data, analyses, or technologies that focus on a particular accent or dialect of a language. It denotes attention to the distinctive phonetic, prosodic, lexical, or syntactic features associated with a specific speech community, rather than to the language as a single, uniform system.

In sociolinguistics, accent-specific studies examine how sound patterns cluster by region, social group, or identity, and how listeners perceive and evaluate these variations. In corpus linguistics, researchers may tag recordings as accent-specific to enable targeted comparisons or training.

In speech technology, accent-specific resources are used to improve performance for a target accent. This includes accent-specific acoustic models in automatic speech recognition (ASR), which are trained on data labeled for that accent, and accent-specific voice synthesis that models prosody and pronunciation typical of the accent. System designers may also employ adaptation techniques to transform a general model toward a chosen accent.

Challenges include data scarcity for some accents, potential overfitting, and biases if resources favor dominant varieties. Ethical considerations involve representation, consent, and avoiding stereotype reinforcement.
