Abborre, or European perch (Perca fluviatilis), is a freshwater fish in the family Percidae. It is native to Europe and western Asia and has been introduced to other regions, including North America. The species favors lakes, rivers, and canals with clear water and abundant vegetation or structures that provide cover for feeding and protection of juveniles.

It has an elongate, laterally compressed body with a greenish to olive back and lighter sides marked by several dark vertical bars. The two dorsal fins are distinct, the first with spines. Adults commonly reach 20–30 cm, with occasional individuals over 40 cm.

Abborre is mainly predatory. Juveniles feed on zooplankton and invertebrates; adults prey on smaller fish, insects, and crustaceans. Spawning takes place in spring in shallow vegetated areas. Eggs are adhesive and laid on vegetation or debris. Fry develop into juveniles within a week to several weeks, depending on temperature.

The species is important for sport and commercial fisheries in many regions and is used in cuisine. It is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN due to its wide distribution and abundance, though local declines can occur from habitat loss, pollution, or overfishing.
