Zündapp-Werke GmbH was a German motorcycle manufacturer founded in 1917. The name Zündapp is a portmanteau derived from Zünder (igniter) and Apparatebau (apparatus construction). The company's initial focus was on producing munitions for World War I, but it soon transitioned to manufacturing motorcycles.
