Zwischenrad
Zwischenrad, also known as an idler gear, is a gear placed between two other gears in a gear train. Its primary function is to reverse the direction of rotation of the output shaft without changing the gear ratio between the input and output shafts. In a simple gear train with two gears, the output gear rotates in the opposite direction to the input gear. By inserting a Zwischenrad between them, the input gear drives the Zwischenrad, which then drives the output gear. The Zwischenrad rotates in the opposite direction to the input gear, and the output gear rotates in the same direction as the input gear.
Beyond reversing direction, Zwischenrads can also be used to adjust the distance between the centers of two
Zwischenrads are commonly found in various mechanical systems, including transmissions, conveyor belts, and clockwork mechanisms. They
