Concept and fictional mechanism: The imagined method involves two reference points placed beneath a material boundary. A sensor array above the boundary records signals sent through the intervening medium. By analyzing the relative phase, arrival times, and amplitude differences between the two underpoints, a theoretical model attempts to infer properties or anomalies in the overlying region.
