Zweging

Zweging is a fictional archipelago and cultural region used in speculative fiction and world-building. It comprises five principal islands and numerous smaller islets along a volcanic arc in the eastern maritime sphere. The region is known for terraced rice fields, mangrove coasts, and geothermal springs that influence local energy and crafts.

The islands range from low mangrove shores to highland plateaus, with tropical climates and a monsoon pattern. Coral reefs encircle the archipelago, supporting diverse marine life and fisheries.

Zweging's political identity traces to a medieval maritime federation known as the Zweging Compact. In modern settings, it is a semi-autonomous region within a larger nation, governed by a regional assembly and a governor appointed by the center; the capital is Lirath.

The population is diverse, with several ethnic groups and languages. The Zwe language family dominates daily speech, supplemented by regional dialects. Literacy is high in urban areas, and education emphasizes multilingualism.

The economy centers on agriculture (rice and spices), artisanal crafts, fishing, and light manufacturing. Geothermal energy and small-scale hydropower provide electricity, while ports and inter-island ferries connect communities.
