Zsarolóvírusok

Zsarolóvírusok, often translated as ransomware, are a type of malicious software designed to deny a user's access to their computer system or data until a ransom is paid. Once infected, the malware encrypts files on the victim's computer, making them inaccessible. A message is then displayed on the screen, demanding payment, usually in cryptocurrency, to provide the decryption key.

These viruses spread through various means, including malicious email attachments, infected websites, and compromised software downloads. Phishing attempts are a common delivery vector, where users are tricked into opening an infected file or clicking a malicious link. The attack can target individuals or entire organizations, with businesses often being a prime target due to the potential for higher ransom payouts.

The impact of a ransomware attack can be severe, leading to significant financial losses, operational disruptions, and damage to reputation. Data loss is a major concern, as decryption is not guaranteed even after payment.
