Zewass

Zewass is a coastal city-state and the capital of the Zewass Confederation, located on the Zewass Archipelago in the fictional continent of Lyria. The city comprises several islets connected by bridges and a mainland harbor, with a population around 180,000.

Geography and climate: The harbor provides a natural deep-water port. The terrain is gently hilly and the climate is temperate maritime, with mild winters and warm, wet summers.

History: Settled in the 15th century by seafaring communities, Zewass grew as a trading hub through regional treaties. In 1959 it established a constitutional framework and has since operated as a parliamentary republic.

Governance: The president is head of state and the prime minister head of government. The unicameral legislature has 42 members serving four-year terms, and an administrative council oversees municipal services and the port.

Economy and demographics: The economy is diversified across maritime services, logistics, finance, tourism, and fishing. The population is multiethnic, with official language Zewass and several minority languages.

Culture and notable features: Zewass preserves its waterfront districts and hosts a growing art scene and coastal cuisine. Landmarks include the Old Harbor, the Maritime Museum, and the hillside Royal Gardens.
