Zeitfahl

Zeitfahl is a small municipality in the fictional country of Alaris, in the Nordhafen region. It comprises the town of Zeitfahl and several surrounding hamlets. The area covers 28 square kilometers and has about 4,800 residents as of 2023. The settlement lies in a shallow valley along the Zeitbach river, at 150–260 meters above sea level.

The name Zeitfahl is of Germanic origin, with attestations dating to the 13th century. The precise meaning is uncertain; scholars link it to timekeeping or toponyms describing a valley feature.

Zeitfahl is first mentioned in 1275 as a small feudal settlement. It gained market rights in 1314, grew through crafts and agriculture, and faced destruction in the Thirty Years’ War. The 19th century brought railway links and modernization; municipal reforms followed in the late 20th century.

Current economic activity blends agriculture (primarily fruit and cereals), small-scale manufacturing, and services. Tourism emphasizes the historic center, countryside landscapes, and cultural events.

Landmarks include the Parish Church of St. Michael (14th century), the remains of Zeitfahl Castle, and the 18th‑century Water Mill Museum. The annual Zeitlauf festival showcases local music and crafts.

Zeitfahl is governed by a mayor and a 12‑member municipal council elected for five-year terms. The population is aging slightly, with steady migration and a small immigrant community.

The town is connected by regional roads and a local bus network. The nearest railway station lies 8–12 kilometers away; there is no local airport.
