Zaydi
Zaydi is a branch of Shia Islam named after Zayd ibn Ali, a grandson of the first Shia Imam, Ali. It is distinct from the larger Twelver Shia branch. Zaydis are primarily found in Yemen, where they constitute a significant portion of the population. A key theological difference between Zaydism and Twelver Shiism is the Zaydi belief that any descendant of Ali and Fatima, possessing specific qualifications, can be an Imam, rather than adhering to a specific lineage of twelve Imams. This allows for a more dynamic succession of leadership.
