Zauche

Zauche refers to a historical region in Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated southwest of Potsdam and west of Berlin. Historically, Zauche was a Brandenburgian administrative district (Amt) and later part of the administrative region of Potsdam. The landscape is characterized by rolling hills, forests, and numerous lakes, including the Schwielochsee and the Beelitzer Seen. The region's name is believed to derive from the Slavic word "zavucha," meaning "behind the water" or "beyond the water," likely referring to its position relative to the Havel River.
