Zandstabilisatie is a technique used to improve the load-bearing capacity and reduce settlement of sandy soils. It involves modifying the sand's properties, often by introducing stabilizing agents or altering its structure. This process is crucial in civil engineering projects, particularly in areas with loose or poorly graded sands, to ensure the stability of foundations, roads, and other structures.

One common method of zandstabilisatie is through compaction. Mechanical vibratory or static compaction techniques are applied to increase the density of the sand, thereby enhancing its shear strength and reducing its compressibility.
