Yyteri

Yyteri is a beach district in the municipality of Pori in the Satakunta region of Finland. It lies on the western coast along the Gulf of Bothnia and is best known for its long, sandy beach and the adjacent dune landscape. The Yyteri dunes form one of Finland’s most notable dune fields, extending along a broad stretch of the coastline and backed by pine forest.

During the summer the area is a popular destination for swimming, sunbathing and nature walks. The dunes and the adjacent coastline are also used for outdoor recreation such as hiking on marked trails and wind-based sports, including windsurfing and kite surfing, which take advantage of the open water and steady winds.

Visitors access Yyteri by road from Pori. The area accommodates a campsite and various services for beachgoers, including parking and refreshment options near the dunes and the beach.

From an environmental perspective, the dune landscape represents a unique coastal habitat. Conserving the dune ecosystem is a consideration in local planning, and visitors are encouraged to stay on designated trails to protect the habitat.
